Mean

(See also Estimate Ratio; Ratio Estimate) The simple arithmetic average for a population; that is, the sum of all the values in a population divided by the size of the population. For this report, population means are estimated by computing the weighted sum of the sample values, then dividing by the sum of the sample weights. The mean is, thus, an aggregate ratio whose denominator is the total number of households or vehicles. (DOE4)
