Guard Wall
(See also Lead Wall) The extension of the inner lock wall on the upper and lower side of the lock chamber to assist navigators in guiding vessels or tows into the lock chamber. It is usually 600 feet in length, although some are now 1,200 feet long. (TNDOT1)
The river wall of a lock which prevents boats from being drawn into the dam. (TNDOT1)
