Constant Dollars
A series of figures is expressed in constant dollars when the effect of change in the purchasing power of the dollar has been removed. Usually the data are expressed in terms of dollars of a selected year or the average of a set of years. (DOE6)
A dollar value adjusted for charges in the average price level. A constant dollar is derived by dividing a current dollar amount by a price index. The resulting constant dollar value is that which would exist if prices had remained at the same average level as in the base period. (BTS3)
