Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development
AFESD promotes regional economic integration and social development in Arab
states. Members include: Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan,
Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia,
Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and the
Palestine Liberation Organization. The Fund, associated with the League of
Arab States, started operations in February 1972; headquarters are in
Safat, Kuwait.
