Apron
1) A floor or lining-of resistant material at the toe of a dam or bottom of a spillway to prevent erosion from turbulent water flow; 2) That portion of a pier and wharf measured between the outer edges of the water-facing side and the transit shed or other inshore structure. (TNDOT1)
