Data on Consulting Firms

DACON is a computerized roster of consulting firms interested in doing
business on World Bank-financed projects. The Bank uses DACON
registrations to select firms to be considered for short lists (that is, a
select list of firms to be invited to submit proposals) as well as to
review the qualifications of firms proposed by the borrower. Registration
eligibility includes minimum size and experience requirements. Consulting
firms are not required to register; registration does not constitute the
Bank's endorsement of the firm's qualifications or the Bank's approval of
the firm's appointment for any specific project. The use of the acronym
DACON is not limited to the World Bank; for example, the Inter-American
Development Bank also maintains data on consultants in its separately
administered DACON.
